Infozech’s Participation in ‘Energy Management and Excellence Summit’
The Indian industrial sector is transitioning through an interesting phase. Increasing raw material prices and thinner margins due to increased competition is forcing companies to look at measures to become cost effective and hence competitive in the Indian market .In the past few years, there has been a consistent rise in fuel cost, while its uncertainty related to availability has become a major concern. At the same time, grid power tariffs have been on the rise, while its supply continues to remain unreliable. In such a scenario, energy intensive companies are increasingly focusing on cost savings through superior energy management.
Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) is a market based mechanism to enhance cost effectiveness of improvements in energy efficiency in energy intensive large industries and facilities, through certification on energy savings that could be traded.
In this summit, the panelists mainly focused on the technology, process and regulatory aspect of energy efficiency. The key takeaways and Infozech’s perspective towards Energy Efficiency:
- Cultural and behavioral issue in reducing energy consumption on a field level is one of the biggest issue in industrial sectors in order to gain effective energy efficiency gains
- Energy consumption and action-ability on operations should be available at a granular level to enhance operational efficiency and to reduce the cost of energy.
- Monitoring and base lining are one of the core issues for energy consumption ,due to lack of specific methodology being available for base lining.
- The initial cost for base lining and bench-marking energy consumption is very high. So cheaper and efficient technology will play a major role for this mechanism.
